The WAY we have to do it now...
The difficulty I have in making, packaging and shipping this good product is
that it is classified as a "Hazardous Material" and as such, has some specific
state and federal guidelines I must adhere to regarding the size and type can it
is contained within, packaging, and the methods of shipping (by ground
transportation only) that I am allowed use.

It must carry a special ORM-D, 106 degree label, be less than 1 quart to many
states, and one gallon or less to the rest.  It must be packaged in a 200 lb.
rated new box within a secondary container capable of absorbing any leakage.
Ordinarily, it also has to be shipped one container per package.  That means
that to ship two pints (one quart total) I have to ship two packages.  The
customer would have to pay two shipping charges.

So, instead of just giving up, I studied the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration regulations and got a Hazmat certificate on file.  Then, I called
the USPS adminstration and got counseled on the size and contents of the
packages I would have the option of mailing.  These options apply to the UPS
also.

I can ship one half-pint can in one package.  I can ship one pint can in one
package, and if I shrink-wrap one half-pint can to one pint can with a foam
cushion in between, I am allowed to ship that combo in one package.
My wife and I decided that since these sizes fit the needs of the large majority
of our possible customers, that we would only buy cans and shipping supplies in
these sizes, pint and half-pint, and avoid trying to ship anything larger which
would strain our finances and endanger the survival of this little home-based
business venture.

If a person does a lot of stock finishing, and wants to buy the largest amount       <------Determining how much
possible at one time, to save on shipping, the combo allows me to ship one and
         you need
one half pints for only about a dollar more in shipping charges than it costs to
ship a pint by itself.

So the 1 and 1/2 pint combo gives you the "best bang for your shipping buck!'
But, of course, only if you need that much stock oil.

Now, I am not in the business to take advantage of people for a few bucks.  I
want to be a friend to my customers and provide the best quality product
available in an amount that serves their needs as economically as possible.

If you are only going to do one stock or just have one to three rifles to
finish, refinish or refurbish and maintain, a half-pint will probably be enough
to last you a quite a while.

If you have several and like to shoot and fool with military surplus rifles
frequently, you probably need a pint.

If you are really into it and replace and trade stocks, rebuild rifles and stock
barreled receivers, or refinish a lot, you'll be wanting to buy the 1 and 1/2
pint combo.

A half-pint of Fairtrimmer's Military oX stock oil is $10.00.

A pint is $14.50.

The combo is $24.50.
